Elblag is a 130,000 sized city on the Baltic Sea. In 1990 militarily used sites were situated in Modrzewina (amount of re-used area: Modrzewina – approx. 300 ha), area of barracks on Saperów Str. (approx. 20 ha).
The Modrzewina – an area regained after military training ground - is now on the stage of reclamation and preparation for investments connected with the economic development and housing functions (stage of preparation of plans and documents connected with infrastructural investments)
The area of barracks on Saperów Str. is developed for needs of education (schools), public administration (poviat office), as well as for housing functions.
The main challenges for the future are the implementation of the infrastructural investments, the promotion of the conversion sites and searching for new investors.
