Brief description of the organisation's activities
The company bears responsibility for most of former Russian army sites in the State of Brandenburg. Out of approx. 100,000 hectares nearly 47,000 hectares of converted land have been sold by end of 2003.

Most of the sites in urban and communal locations are sold so far, whereas outlying, remote sites still await civilian re-use in the future. The company has extensive expert knowledge in site cleaning (waste, ammunition), planning, reconstruction, development, reutilization, marketing and sales of sites.

Within CONVERNET, the BBG can offer comprehensive management skills and experiences in converting sites to Central European (CE) countries with similar conversion problems on the agenda. We hope to gain benefits from huge demand in CE for custom-tailored conversion policy.

After 12 year of successful operation, the once state-owned BBG was privatised end of 2006. The company will furthermore be responsible for former Russian army sites in the State of Brandenburg. Moreover together with the new stockholder, the TVF Thyssen-VEAG Flächenrecycling GmbH, new business segments will be developed.
