This includes environmental and safety issues as well as the preparation of infrastructure projects (e.g. the North European Gas Pipeline). >>CONVER invest

As space where different political systems crossed in the past the Baltic Sea Region was especially in the 1990-ies a focus of military transformation and withdrawal. It is estimated that more than 3,000 single sites and 600,000 ha of former military bases have been set free for civil purposes.

>>Prosperity Perspective for Brownfields – PROSPERITY

Structural change occurs in all of Europe: whether caused by economic change (e.g. transformation in post-communist countries) or the release of huge areas after military use has been ceased: the question of turn these areas into incubators for economic growth and social welfare becomes more and more important in an integrating European Union.
